A Bakers Dozen

For the past couple of weeks, I have been putting my new art studio to good use:  Making doll clothes for my GD and Great Niece.  Finding patterns was getting difficult, it seems every store I went to was sold out!  I managed to get the word out and was able to grab some vintage Barbie patterns.  I should get them this week and will have fun adding to this collection that I have had fun creating from recycled trims, velvets, ribbons and old clothing.  I've still got an old leather jacket I disassembled last year to recycle into some belts, wrist cuffs and maybe a jacket or cape to round out this wardrobe.  I'm still designing the purple felted capes!

Make sure to measure the current dolls compared to the vintage patterns~~I know Mattel changed the size of some of the current Barbies.
I think I own almost every pattern that has been printed; used to do these for extra cash, designed also....stockings, gloves, fancy petticoats and bra/panty sets, hats, you name it. Beautiful bridal sets....OMG.....I don't know how I did it.
I know I loved it....and a lot of little girls got them for Christmas presents!
Lovely job!

Some of those outfits remind (a little) of some I designed for my Barbie when I was about 10. My mom let me take over the old straight-stitch sewing machine. Of course, most of them were squares that I hemmed and then wrapped around and tied with a ribbon. :D

Karen-Hi there! Some of these are simply wrapped and velcro added. I find it difficult to sew in tight areas and these clothes don't give you much room for manipulating under the sewing machine. LOL! I used to make my own Barbie clothes from leftover fabrics also and had a wonderful time inventing new ways to wrap and drape. I did it for DD's, now my GD's and I still enjoy it! LOL!
