Another Year Long Workshop

In the past-I have conducted two other FREE "year long workshops" based on 2 very different books. Mary Todd-Beam and Julia Andrus, painting techniques and paper techniques. This time I will be hosting a "year long workshop" for art projects which also teaches techniques for altered art and recycling! The only requirement to participate in this year long adventure is to own our newest release: "Exploring the Latest Trends in Mixed Media Art-Vol II". There are 46 diverse art projects showcased-a wide variety of materials used, such as: vintage book covers-rhinestone jewelry-buttons-rusty metals-lots of recycled materials-fabrics-laces-and some canvas. I would think these 12 workshops would be more in line with art that you would give as gifts or keep for your own home. Of course if you have an etsy shop-you could even make a few $$ too. :-D It will be up to the student/member to decide their project for the month from a selection of 2-3 projects. Two of my projects that seem to be high on the list of must-do’s are: the foreign currency beads (made from tin) and the treasure book made from canvas-which uses a plaster technique that took me a year to develop-that works great for small surfaces and remains flexible! Every month, (Do to overwhelming commitments we will be taking a break during the month of December-this workshop will run from June 2010 to June 2011)-you will be given a choice of projects that you could make, one or all-that will be totally up to you. Since we also have guest artists who contributed to this book, I will be asking them to join our workshop, to be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding one of their projects. I can’t promise that I can get every co-artist to participate-but I will try to have them on hand to answer any questions the students may have-also to give us some suggestions for altering the projects further. Toni’s “Gypsy Wagon” is my all-time favorite assemblage but Linda Trenholm’s Folk-art altered books are fabulous works of art-to do this project as individually framed art pieces, would make an awesome wall display!
This year long workshop will begin on June 1st and it will be by invitation to a new private Yahoo group set up just for this workshop. If you would like to purchase a copy of this awesome book-click the book cover in the sidebar and it will take you to our e-store or you can purchase it from Amazon. It qualifies for free shipping when combined with another purchase to meet Amazons requirements. Once you have your book, leave me a comment here, with a way to contact you-I will get back to you.
I am working on the schedule of projects and will be posting them soon. If you are not a member of the Latest Trends Yahoo group yet, you can also join this group and add your name to the database for this workshop. (Link is in my sidebar). Hope to see you there! Here is a sample of one of the projects that you could make-featuring my new plaster technique.
