Cherry Blossoms

I played around yesterday with the wax resist lesson in the Celebrate your Creative Self by: Mary Todd Beam workshop and ended up with this painting that reminded me of the Cherry Blossoms blowing in the wind in D.C. It will be hung in my Asian bath, if I can find wall space for it! LOL!

This experiment was rather interesting..I placed the matt board on the floor and standing above it, dripped melted wax from a candle thinking that the farther away from the board, the bigger the drops of wax would fan out...didn't happen! They were pretty uniform in size. I will have to try this again, using paint to see if the size of the drops are different.

I'm thinking I should also add a large calligraphy letter or a picture of Cherry blossoms printed on a transparency before I replace the glass....hummmmm

Cindy, it is perfect as is. Japanese art can be simple and elegant without a lot of added elements. This piece is both.
