Acrylic Wash-Part 2

Last week, (see earlier post), I shared with you a fun technique for washing watercolor papers with acrylic paints. I hope you all had fun with that! This week, I will share with you two different techniques for using the washed papers we made. You may or may not have ever done this technique before-but it's fun and the results are never the same twice.
The first technique involves lots of rubber stamps and a black dye-ink stamp pad. (I tried various colors of ink pads and the black gave me the best results-but feel free to experiment on your own!) I tried to select a variety of collaged stamps that I had in my stash, but you will also need some simple stamps and word stamps to use as fillers. Using your stamps & ink pad-start printing your stamps in random order until you cover the entire surface of your washed paper. Turn your stamps as you print them, so that none are side by side, pointing in the same direction or the same size. Once you have the paper filled with stamped images-go back with the smaller, simplier stamps and word stamps, to help fill in the empty spots. Here are a few samples:





Don't be afraid to slightyly overlap one stamp with another.

Some of the stamps I used for these samples are: Tim Holtz Collection, Inkadinkado, Stampington & Company, Printworks, Stampabilities, Hero Arts, All Night Media, Limited Edition, Stampers Anonymous, Clothesline, JudiKins and Hampton Art.

Here's another method of creating these collage-stamped papers: Using glossy photo paper-stamp your images with stazon ink-then using a piece of poly fiber, rub adirondick inks randomly over the paper to color the backgrounds. This takes lots of elbow grease-but worth the effort. Give it a try!
