Combining scrapbook die-cuts, with stamping & throw in a little Mixed Media and this is what I have been working on the past few days. I had no idea how long glitter glue took to dry! I started with a balsa wood type box. I then stamped a background using a background stamp from www.Inkastamps.com in sepia. The trim was done with a Martha Stuart hand punch for edging papers. The Ballerinas were die-cut using a file provided by Ruth Denton on her blog: http://scrappingaway.blogspot.com and the cricut machine. I love the Petaloo flowers so I combined them with an antique porcelin knob, threw on a tag, glitter glued the tutu's of each of the ballerinas, added some flat back rhinestones and after two days of drying time, here's the finished box. I will use it in my studio to store the Petaloo flowers for future use.
This is absolutely fabulous, Cindy!! What a gorgeous art box! Loved reading about the process used and all the embellishments worked in beautifully! Love it! Hugs, Gayle
ReplyDeletebeautiful, the crackle stamp looks like real crackling (it's one of my fave backgrounds too)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm looking forward to more fun projects in the near future and I love how everything is compatible, regardless if it is designed for scrapbooking, mixed media or stamping!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the entire look of this piece!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I had a little trouble deciding whether or not to add more bling, draped rhinestones around the lid, but thought if I did that, I would have a problem getting the lid on every time! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCindy - beautiful work! I have a metal container that I am in the process of altering for my daughter's grad present in May. I love the processes you used and will keep those in mind as I work.
ReplyDeleteNicki-I hope you will post a link for us when you get yours done, so we can all see it!
ReplyDeleteWow Cindy, this is gorgeous! Can't believe the box is stamped--I thought that was patterned paper. It came out great!

Gosh...that is sooooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful box you made! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Ellen
Thanks Everybody, I used a background stamp from Inka's stamps, that looks like crackle or the peeling paint technique. It's fabulous for creating faux backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteAwesome box … beautiful color combination and the little ballerinas around the sides just set it off!
ReplyDeleteI will be using a stencil I altered from a Dover freebie as a background on my next projec. One that I cut out using the Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software. Wonderful to combine with images from a collage sheet or a photo stamp!
ReplyDeleteWell that is just too cute! Love those ballerinas! Guess I'm just gonna have to save my $$$ for one of those machines LOL
ReplyDeleteSharon
LOL! Check e-bay for a used machine, just make sure you get a cartridge with it!
ReplyDeletejust lovely Cindy!

Ruth-You did a fabulous job of designing these ballerinas and I thank you for sharing these with anyone who wanted the files!:-D
ReplyDeleteEverything Cindy touches turns out perfectly. This box is stunning and the white knob on top was a clever addition.

Carolyn-Thanks for your vote of confidence! I love to experiment, so not everything turns out but I learn as much from my failures as I do from the experiments that actually do work out. It's all fun!
